Maine Organic Herb Growers Cooperative Seeking More Certified Organic Herb Producers

The Maine Organic Herb Growers Cooperative (MOGHC) aggregates herbs from Maine producers in order to collectively fill large contracts for wholesale herb buyers, like Mountain Rose Herbs, that have minimum orders in the hundreds of pounds. Currently they are looking to source milky oats, calendula, and hyssop, but may expand into sourcing other herbs in the future. Milky oats and calendula are annuals and will be harvestable the first year. Hyssop is a perennial and a harvest will wait until second year, but then be available for years afterwards, given proper cultivation. The ideal producer for the co-op would grow a minimum of 10-25 lbs. of dried herb, would dry the herb in their own facilities, and would deliver to the co-op in Athens. However, the co-op may be able to assist with the drying process, if needed.
