A small food/firewood farm on a 50 acre wood lot in a more sparsely populated part of Maine. We have a four-season greenhouse for vegetable and eventually medicinal herb production. We would welcome the continuous help of one (preferably male, due to logging) on a long term basis for sustainable gardening, firewood production, nature trail construction, eventually farm animal care, and building maintenance/construction. Our objective is to develop and participate in local food production as well as develop a laboratory for teaching the young and old how to live more sustainably. We ask up to 20 hours per week of participation, will supply food, and will develop living facilities with individuals strong enough and willing to do logging as well as gardening. We are interested in applicants truly dedicated to acquiring skills of sustainability and not those currently searching for purpose in life or a comfortable intermission from commitment to anything else. The owners are a recently retired educational psychology professor and a school psychologist. High speed internet and cell service are available. A bicycle and motor scooter are available. The hobby farm is located two miles from East Coast Greenway (www.greenway.org) bicycle pathway. We are English speaking. We maintain our primary residence on sea water 10 miles away, traveling to and from the farm daily where the help would primarily reside. Applicants must have excellent recent references and have health and accident insurance. We do not accommodate pets of any kind and require that the insividual his environment neat and clean. One strong male, or a couple will be considered. Contact Darrel Bostow at bostow@gmail.com or 813 503-4734
