We need a farmsitter in south Georgia for the months of February, March, and April 2014. We are looking for an interested couple or family who would like to stay here for 3 months while we are away in exchange for taking care of our farm animals, a job which requires on average about an hour of work a day. We live near Reidsville, Georgia, about 30 minutes from Vidalia, 45 from Statesboro, and 1-1/4 hours inland from Savannah.

This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in sustainable agriculture and wanting to try a hand at it, or for physically fit, nature-loving artists or scholars wanting a quiet place to work. Find pictures of the farm at www.redearthfarm.weebly.com.

* We have small numbers of many kinds of domestic animals.: cows, goats, sheep, assorted fowl, hogs, rabbits, dogs, cat. Chores happen twice a day and take around 30 minutes each time.

* May need some basic repair skills in case of fences breaking and so forth. Small tractor experience would be great, but not necessary. Chance to practice all sorts of farming & cooking skills. Expect a very quiet, solitary, rural life.

* Lodging, utilities, phone & Internet access provided. You will be responsible for food. This is an exchange.

* Must be a nonsmoker. No drugs. We can't accommodate pets. May require background check. Hiking & kayaking nearby.

If you are interested, please contact us. If not and you know of someone who may be, please forward this message. Many thanks.
