About the store:

We are a consumer cooperative located in the heart of downtown Waterville. We are committed to providing high quality, organic, locally grown and produced food and other goods to our members and customers. Begun in 2009 as a non-profit market, project of Waterville Main Street, we became an independent entity in 2013, with a current membership of 150. We are a dynamic, community-minded market deeply engaged in and excited about the local foods system. As part of our mission to provide nourishing foods to our customers, we have been operating a small-scale kitchen for the past two years, from which we do catering, daily lunches,
and prepared foods to-go.

About the position:

Barrels Community Market is seeking to fill a full-time position as lead cook and manager for its kitchen. This position is newly created; we are looking for someone who is eager to grow this part of our coop. The Manager will be responsible for all kitchen operations, including daily lunches, prepared foods, and catering jobs. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for menu planning, recipe creation, cost analysis, and organization of food systems in the kitchen.

The manager will be responsible for creating and implementing systems for cleanliness and efficiency, as well as oversight of other staff in the kitchen. The manager will report to the retail manager, and will work with the retail manager to increase kitchen sales and ensure consistencies between the kitchen and retail market.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have:
- At minimum, two years experience in a commercial kitchen
- Experience managing and collaborating with staff
- Great communication skills, customer service, and a sense of humor
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, flexible environment
- Ability to multi-task
- Familiarity with cooking with seasonal, local ingredients
