Barn Manager

Unity College’s Sustainability Office seeks a responsible, motivated, energetic professional to perform all aspects of animal husbandry and barn/pasture management related to our campus farm operation and its vibrant, educational interface with students. This position will be expected to coordinate with faculty and staff of the Sustainable Agriculture and Captive Wildlife Care and Education programs to support enrichment of student learning experiences and specific learning objectives.

REQUIREMENTS: Must have an ability to work collaboratively and independently, possess a passion for animal husbandry and health, agriculture, and education, and be able to create/maintain a safe working environment. Good candidates will have experience with agricultural management and planning, strong written and verbal communication skills, and experience handling animals (which may include ruminants, poultry, and bees).

EDUCATION /EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, relevant work experience; experience with animal husbandry and handling; demonstrated interest in sustainable agriculture, animal health and/or related work; Familiar with educational setting a plus.

HOURS: Part-time, 20 hours/week; year round; includes nights/weekends. On call for animal health needs.

PAY: Commensurate with experience.
