Growing Good Seed: From the Ground Up. We are excited to announce the fourth annual seed saving conference organized by Farmington Seed Savers Group. It will be held on Saturday, Feb. 8, from noon to 5 at the University of Maine at Farmington (snow date of Feb. 15). Come hear Jim Gerritsen of Wood Prairie Farm start with his keynote “The People’s Seed. Who’s in Charge and How Do We Develop and Protect it?”. Then choose to attend 3 of the following 6 workshops: Session 1—Growing Good Potatoes, Jim Gerritsen or Small Scale Seed Saving: Preserving Basic and Unique Food Crops, Amy LeBlanc. Session 2: Backyard Garden Plant Isolation and Breeding, Roberta Bailey or Pest Management for the Home Gardener, Clay Kirby. Session 3: Builing Vibrant, Fertile, Resilient Soil, Bruce Hoskins or Saving Seeds of biennials-Why it Matters, Will Bonsall. Brochures will be available at the Saturday Farmington winter farmer’s market and at The Better Living Center. This event is sponsored by Farmington Seed Savers Group.
