We All Belong in the Garden

In 1990, MOFGA member Beedy Parker wanted to spread the message that the Common Ground Country Fair “means common ground. There’s a lot of space for all kinds of people at the Fair.” So she created a parade of vegetables and garden creatures, “something that would say we all belong in the garden,” inspired by the parades of Vermont’s Bread & Puppet Theater.

Host Your Own Vegetable Garden Parade

Nine Children's Vegetable Garden Parade costumes, based on the parades that take place daily from the Children's Area at MOFGA’s annual Common Ground Country Fair in September, are available for events such as local food celebrations, kids’ gardening events and farmers’ markets.

Want to Make Costumes?

Every year good, food promoting causes want to borrow Fair Vegetable Parade costumes for a public event, such as a food coop celebration or a Healthy Food parade.
