MOFGA has lent a helping hand to Slates Restaurant in Hallowell, which was destroyed by fire in February 2007. Wendy Larson, recently named “Restaurateur of the Year” by the Maine Restaurant Association, opened Slates in 1979.

At its February board meeting, MOFGA approved the establishment of a disaster relief fund to assist MOFGA members who have met with substantial disasters – fire, storms, flooding.

Members of MOFGA's El Salvador Sistering Committee met with MOFGA’s Board of Directors in June to discuss possibilities for solidarity with small farmers worldwide. In this meeting, the Board adopted the following position statement.
