In 2005, MOFGA will once again sponsor a comprehensive series of five classes in organic orcharding. The day-long workshops will be held at orchards in central Maine and will follow the seasons from March through October, progressing from pruning to grafting, planting, pest management and harvest.

On October 9, an enthusiastic group gathered at Sandy River Orchard in Mercer for the fifth and final installment of MOFGA’s 2004 organic orcharding classes. The day was hosted and led by 89-year-old Francis Fenton, whose father planted many of the orchard’s apple trees in 1906.
