Union Supported Agriculture is based on a Community Supported Agriculture model. USA is a community union of
people based on the belief that union values of mutual aid, support,
& solidarity, together with fair & local food will make for a
more vibrant & healthy community. While many members are also
members of local unions, it is not necessary to be a union member to
join.
How it works
· USA is a relationship of mutual support and commitment between a local farmer and members who share in the risk and bounty of sustainable agriculture.
· Members pick up a weekly share of a farm’s vegetable harvest at an Eastern Maine location.
· Members pay for their shares at the beginning of the season or work at the farm.
· We provide opportunities to purchase other local foods like eggs, canned goods, and meats.
What do members enjoy about USA?
Fresh, nutritious food
Organic

Having veggies on a weekly basis.

Convenient
Great people
Getting to try different veggies.
We accept SNAP
Union
Supported Agriculture strives to make local food accessible to all.
That’s why we accept payments of SNAP benefits (formerly called food
stamps) with your EBT card. If you pay with SNAP, you will pay weekly
throughout the season, but still need to sign up in the Spring.
We also have a limited capacity to provide half-priced shares to people. If you qualify for SNAP, you qualify for our half-priced share program!
Work Shares
We
highly encourage people to consider a Work Share. Work at the farm for
8 hours every week in exchange for your farm share. No experience is
necessary. USAs success depends on Work Share participants fulfilling
their commitments to work at the farm throughout the season. Please call
for more information.
Share Options
We
offer a variety of vegetable shares, flower shares, and egg shares.
Vegetable shares come in two sizes. Exact quantities of vegetables will
vary according to growing conditions, but we find that the larger full
size in typical years is sufficient for about four people, while the
smaller half size is about right for two people. This year USA is offering 18 week shares for the first time.
