Star Root Farm is an 80 acre family farm in the heart of Downeast Maine. In 2011 we are growing a 2 acre market garden managed under organic and biodynamic principles. We prefer to plant heirloom and open-pollinated seeds to preserve genetic diversity and have the ability to save our own seed. Our focus is on bio-intensive practices that nourish the soil, the greater ecology of the farm, and the local community. We love visitors and are eager to share the farm... please stop in to say hi!

Markets

Produce is available at our farmstand, open 7 days a week, daylight hours.

In 2011 we are offering a credit-based CSA program. Pay upfront to establish your account with the Star Root Farmstand, then get ready to shop all season long! Additional funds can be added to your account at any point during the season.

Although we are flexible and open to any pre-paid amount, the following are our three basic levels of membership:

*FRIEND: $100.00 paid by May 15 receives a 10% return, so you'll have $110 to spend at the Farmstand all season long.

*SUPPORTER: $500.00 paid by May 15 receives a 10% return, starting you off with $550.00 on your account. Additional benefits include invitations to weekly 'Garden Parties,' an opportunity to enter the gardens and choose your own produce with staff assistance.

*STAR: $1000.00 paid by May 15 receives a 15% return, putting $1150.00 on your account. Benefits at this level include a free weekly flower or herb bouquet, custom orders (including a wish list of items to be grown), free access to the gardens for choose-your-own or receive limited local delivery, if you prefer. It’s like being a rock star, only much, much better for your health!
